SCA Certified Practitioner
Gary is a performance psychologist and SCA certified practitioner who is the Principal of PerformanceBest, LLC. For almost two decades, Gary has had the privilege of designing and delivering creative, strategic consulting services to leaders in diverse organizations across a wide range of industries. His areas of expertise include: Social Capital Analysis, Leadership and Talent Development, Executive Coaching, Organization Design, and Group Facilitation.
Gary’s work centers on designing and delivering solutions that enable people (individuals and teams) and organizations (organizational systems / structures) to achieve their peak performance. When working with people, Gary uses the methodologies of coaching, leadership development, competency modeling and assessments (e.g., 360, leadership, performance, personality, emotional intelligence, competency and strengths.) When working with organizational systems and structures, Gary uses the methodologies of social capital analysis, ethnography, organizational design, needs analysis, strategy design and process design/redesign.
In addition to earning his certification from NetForm® Resources in Social Capital Analysis, Gary is also certified or licensed to use a variety of psychological instruments including: the Hogan Leadership Forecast Series and the Hogan Business Reasoning Inventory, the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), the Hay Emotional Competencies Inventory, Human Synergistic’s Life Styles Inventory I & II, Leadership Impact and the Organizational Culture Survey. He is also certified to design and facilitate GE Workouts.
Over the course of his consulting career clients have included Pharmacia, Summit Polymers, Menasha Paper, Lucent Technologies, Arvco Paper and Horizon Healthcare Services, to name a few. In the first half of his career, Gary held positions including Management Analyst, City Manager, Law Firm Administrator, Service Representative, Graduate Admissions Coordinator and Instructor at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Gary earned a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior, Leadership and Sociology of Knowledge from The Ohio State University; a MPA in Urban Management and Public Budgeting from the University of Pittsburgh, and a BA in History from Thiel College.
